Work is well underway to serve up a 27-year-old tradition in Lancaster County.
Volunteers cleaned 1,400 pounds of potatoes Monday at the Kinzer Fire Hall. They’re getting ready for the annual New Year’s Day pork and sauerkraut dinner. The dinner includes 1,800 pounds of pork and 165 drums of homemade sauerkraut.
Organizers expect to serve 2,000 people. They say there are a couple things you should bring if you're planning to take part- an appetite and patience, since it does take time to feed such a large crowd.
The dinner is a fundraiser for the Kinzer Fire Company. They'll be serving food from 11 a.m. until 6 p.m. Tuesday night.
